The French Consulate General issues diverse types of visa according to the purpose and length of your stay.

Schengen Visas :

Explanation Visa
You are the spouse, child or dependant parent of a French Citizen and need to obtain an airport transit, transit, short stay or circulation visa. Family member of a French Citizen
You are the spouse, dependant child or dependant parent of an European Union Citizen and need to obtain an airport transit, transit, short stay or circulation visa. Family member of an European Union Citizen (non-French)
You need a visa that allows you to transit through the international zone of a French airport without entry into the Schengen space. Airport Transit Visa
You need a visa that allows you to transit through France or other Schengen countries (i.e. by car or coach) on your way to another country, outside the Schengen space. Transit Visa
You need a visa that allows you to go to France and other Schengen States for tourism, shopping, business or family visits. Short Stay Visa

You hold a diplomatic, service or official passport. Diplomatic visa
You need a visa that allows you to reside in France, for longer than 3 months, either to study, work or retire. Long stay visa
You need a visa that allows you to travel to Central African Republic, Djibouti, Mauritania or Togo. Visa for countries represented by the French Authorities in the United-Kingdom
You need a visa that allows you to travel to Guadeloupe, Martinique, Reunion Island, Guyana, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, French Southern Territories, St. Pierre and Miquelon or Mayotte. DOM / TOM visa
